SOLOSHOT3 Now available: CLICK HERE
The SoloShot 3 is expected to be released September 2018 in Australia, though the wait is pretty long considering that you’re reading this today we strongly stand behind the claim that it’s worth it! As a matter of fact, it’s a worthy upgrade if you’re using the SoloShot2, and probably worth your while if you’re new to the world of filmography. That said there are a number of features which will actually change the way you make and edit videos. Below we look at some of the most exciting features we’re expecting to see.
Auto filming just became a whole lot smarter
Hiring a professional cameraman to help you through filming an indie series or perhaps a short video for YouTube is very expensive. But with the new and improved SoloShot 3 you’ll no longer miss not having a professional by your side. The Robotic Cameraman in the latest version is not just a robot but a robot with brains. When you wear a Tag, the base will automatically follow, zoom and tilt in order to keep you in that shot, from a distance of up to a whopping 2000 ft. for up to 3 hours. Plus, it does not require line of sight.
The added bonus with the 3rd generation of the SoloShot is that unlike previous generations there is no need to spend extra time on setting it up. All you need is to point, identify and it will start shooting within 30 seconds. In addition, the base can easily be moved anytime you want, even when it’s in the process of tracking and framing a shot. This offers you a lot more flexibility when it comes to framing shots and recording sequences like car chases.
Auto Editing
The auto-editing feature was one of the biggest reasons why people found SoloShot 2 to be a game changer. However, with the third generation they are taking things further, essentially making it much easier to edit your videos saving you hundreds of hours of editing.
SoloShot3 has the ability to intelligently identify and highlight footage which is then pushed to the SoloShot cloud from where it can be accessed at any time and from any internet enabled device. Also, highlights can be easily marked in real time directly from the Tag. This easily cuts your editing time by 80%, not to mention making it very easy even for beginners.
Quick and efficient sharing
We saw that many of the people that used the SoloShot shared their footage with friends and family via social media. However, people with more than one account need to upload that footage multiple times which can clearly be a hassle. Then there is also the fact that large files take very long to upload and can put a significant strain on a home network. This is why with the latest generation you get a host of cloud, mobile and onboard tools which manage exactly when, and where you want to push the highlights. So, you no longer have to upload the same content multiple times, since all the clips are in one place i.e. the SoloShot Cloud.
Live Streaming
The new SoloShot app (planned launch January 2016) will give you the ability to stream live video across the world. You can invite family members, colleagues, friends and everyone else you know to join in and have fun. In addition, you can broaden your horizons by viewing content and commenting on videos created by other community members. Thus further enriching the already rich experienced which has made SoloShot a success.
Smaller and lighter
Almost every component of the SoloShot3 is meant to be smaller and lighter. The base is going to be able to work directly with a lineup of zoom OpticX cameras. Plus, the base will be 30% lighter and 40% smaller, with the added ability to track a subject in just 30 seconds. All you’ll need to do is just click on your OpticX and it's ready! In addition, the SoloShot3 will feature a touchscreen, SoloShot edit which is an intelligent highlighting software, and WiFi connectivity.
The new and improved SoloShot3 tag
A couple of notable improvements to the tag includes it being 40% smaller and 30% lighter compared to the second generation. Plus, the tag is designed to be waterproof as well as shockproof, in addition to a built-in OLED display which makes controlling it easier. WiFi connectivity will allow you to connect your smartphone to the device which will work like a long distance remote.
Time lapse photography
Many people have loved using the SoloShot 2 for motion time lapse as well as Astro Photography. However, there were a number of hurdles which made the whole process a bit tedious. This is what is being fixed in the latest generation.
A number of apps will allow for SoloShot3 and SoloShot 3 Pro to easily create MLTs as well as track and capture the sky during at night. The easy to use touch screen will guide you through the entire process which takes just a couple of minutes. Then the built in software will piece together all the images into one cohesive video essentially making the process less tedious and time-consuming.
Optic65 Camera
What’s the point of a smart setup when your lenses are not smart enough? Well, the SoloShot 3 makes sure that not only is the Opitc65, a 65x optical zoom lens with the best optics capable of 4K resolutions but it is also smart enough to zoom and focus while recording in 4K. The camera can also capture 12MP photo bursts. The images are sharper and clearer thanks to the larger diameter of glass with its 1 / 2.3” sensor which combines high-quality video quality with great image capability.
Now everyone can be a professional!
The SoloShot 3 is gearing up to be a huge upgrade over previous versions. However, above is just a small sample of the improvements which are to be expected when the camera finally hits the market.
